COAT OF ARMS - a graphic symbol originating in the Middle Ages and the time of the Crusades, gradually became a symbol of the unity of a family whose ancestors inhabited a common territory, fought beneath a common banner, and together shaped culture, the economy and history. Despite the migration and mingling of families, memories of their roots survived and new branches developed. Today, a family coat of arms is not a relict of the past, but a "graphic" representation of connections with one's ancestors who not only created legends of its founding but also memorised the facts about their own roots.
